About Us
Guidelines for AuthorsGeneral Information and Publishing Rights
Contributions are classified as Review Article, Original Article, or Short Communication. Case Reports (Unusual Cases and Technical Notes) are also acceptable, but should be submitted without abstract and key words. The online submission process can be directly accessed via www.editorialmanager.com/klne. Manuscripts must be accompanied be the “Conflict of Interest Form” which can be obtained from www.springer.com/journal/62. An accompanying letter must state that the entire manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere and that all authors have seen and approved the manuscript. It is the authors´ responsibility to obtain permission from other publishers to reproduce illustrations, tables, etc. Acceptance of a manuscript is based on the evaluation by several reviewers (peer review). Once the manuscript is accepted for publication, all rights are retained by the publisher. The publication, or parts of it, may neither be translated into other languages nor reproduced by any mechanical or electronic means (including photocopying, recording, and microfilm) nor stored in a retrieval system without the publisher‘s written permission. Rejected manuscripts and illustrations will not be returned to authors. Ethical and Legal PrerequisitesManuscripts involving examinations of volunteers and patients must include a statement that the trial protocol has been approved by an ethics committee and thus meets the standards of the Declaration of Helsinki in its revised version of 1975 and its amendments made in 1983, 1989, and 1996 (JAMA 1997;277:925–6). Information suitable to reveal the patient‘s or volunteer‘s identity is to be avoided. Manuscripts involving the use of laboratory animals must clearly state the adherence to appropriate guidelines and approval of the protocols by their institutional review boards has to be indicated. Preparation of ManuscriptsThe submission of English manuscripts including German abstracts is encouraged. Editorial assistance can be offered for preparation of German abstracts. Alternatively, submission of manuscripts in German is possible which should, however, be accompanied by both abstract and captions in English. The manuscript must be double-spaced with 3 cm margins (left and right). Accepted manuscripts are edited according to the publisher‘s style rules. All pages should be numbered consecutively, starting with the title page. Articles should be structured as follows: Abstract and Key Words, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, optionally Acknowledgments, References, Tables, Table and Figure legends, and Figures. The title page must include the following information: Title and short title, each author‘s full name, affiliation; postal address of the corresponding author including phone and fax numbers as well as e-mail address. Articles must contain a structured Abstract in English not exceeding 250 words. Abstracts should not include any references, tables, figures, or references to figures and tables. Each article must have 3–5 key words (according to Index medicus). It is the sole responsibility of the author to ensure that registered trade names are marked with the superscript registration symbol ® or ™. Acknowledgments should be placed directly after the text and before the list of references. Tables and figures, numbered in Arabic numerals (e.g. Figure 1, Table 4), each on a separate sheet with a legend, should be referred to in the text. Color illustrations are provided at no costs for the authors. References must only cite work that has been published or is in press. Each reference should be cited in the text by a number in square brackets (e.g. [1, 2, 8]). References should be numbered in the order in which they appear in the text (not alphabetically). Journal citations must include all authors, title of article, name of journal abbreviated according to Index Medicus (www.nlm.nih.gov), e.g.: Anderson NG, Laurent I, Cook N, Woodward L, Inder TE. Growth rate of corpus callosum in very premature infants. AJNR Am J Neuroradiol 2005;26:685–90. Book citations must include all authors of chapter cited, title of chapter, editors of book, title of book, place, publisher, year of publication, first and last page numbers (e.g.: Grodd W. Congenital white-matter diseases (leukodystrophies). In: Sartor K, ed. Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology. Thieme, Stuttgart–New York 2002, pp 227–33). Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of their references and for correct citation. Electronic Submission of Manuscripts
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.editorialmanager.com/klne. If possible, save the document in Word format, otherwise save the text in the rich text format (rtf). Please do not include in the file any layout instructions such as placements for graphics and avoid end-of-line hyphenation. Use carriage returns only to end headings and paragraphs, not to break lines of text. Please save tables and figures each as separate files, do not integrate them into the text. Most packages for creating them will allow the user to choose a format in which to save a file. TIFF and EPS are preferred. Figures should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and be identifiable by the filename. Galley ProofsProofs are sent to the corresponding author and should be corrected using internationally accepted signs and returned immediately. An order form for reprints will be sent with the galley proof by the publisher; this form should be returned with the proofs to the publisher. Correspondence regarding accepted manuscripts and proofs should be directed to the publisher Urban & Vogel, Munich. |
