A New Year BeginsThe first issue of the year 2009 is dedicated to Professor Hermann Zeumer, head of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology, University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany, who is celebrating his 65th birthday this February. In honor of him, his scholars are presenting nine reviews, dealing with stroke and interventional neuroradiology – Professor Zeumer’s main field of interest. Professor Hermann Zeumer is one of the German neuroradiologists, who had a high impact on our specialty, turning German neuroradiology into being internationally known and acknowledged. He not only influenced the specialty neuroradiology importantly, but also other specialties of the “neuromedicine”. He played a crucial role in the development of modern stroke therapy. As a former clinician he fits our journal perfectly, not only the title but also its intentions. As a full-time neuroradiologist he remained a clinician. He assesses and practices neuroradiology as a clinical specialty, and he spreads this message to his scholars as well as to all participants attending his worthily popular annual meeting “Neuroradiologie Aktuell”. On behalf of our journal, and also as his old friend, I would like to wish him a happy 65th birthday and hope that his unique personality together with his unique sayings will remain present in the neuroradiologic community, even after his retirement. Again this year, a publisher-founded prize, “Best original paper in Clinical Neuroradiology in 2008” has been given away. Congratulations to the winner on behalf of the editorial board! In the name of the neuroradiologic community I would like to express my thanks to the publisher for the renewed support last year. I am pleased to inform you, that the „Online-First Publication” will be introduced shortly. It will be available to read already accepted articles online via SpringerLink before appearance of their printed versions. This will allow an earlier and hence more up-to-date publication of scientific results in our journal. Also in this year, the Editorial Board is planning to bring out a journal with the purpose of promoting the German, Austrian and Swiss neuroradiology. Without you, we can hardly reach this aim; therefore, we count on your further help and support by actively publishing in Clinical Neuroradiology. László Solymosi, Würzburg, Germany |
