Special Edition of Clinical Neuroradiology Dedicated to Professor Sartor

Portrait

This issue of Clinical Neuroradiology is dedicated to Prof. Dr. Klaus Sartor, Emeritus of Neuroradiology at Ruprecht Karls University, Heidelberg, Germany. On September 29, 2007, a farewell symposium was held in Heidelberg by his former trainees. The content of this symposium is summarized in various articles in this issue of Clinical Neuroradiology and impressively demonstrates what Professor Sartor has achieved for neuroradiology in Germany.

In order to place special focus on these articles and therefore accentuate this special edition dedicated to Professor Sartor, the Editors decided not to publish the popular categories “Legal Case”, “Correspondence”, “Journal Club”, and “New in the Web” in this issue.

Apart from bringing forth and supporting his trainees Professor Sartor made major contributions to neuroradiologic education. He wrote one of the first textbooks of neuroradiology and shared his experience with the new field of magnetic resonance tomography with the excellent book “MR Imaging of the Skull and Brain: A Correlative Text Atlas”. This book reflects his continuous strive for perfection.

When Clinical Neuroradiology was founded in 1991, Professor Sartor was one of the founding editors together with Professor Nadjmi, Professor Hacker, and Professor Voigt. He has made a major contribution in promoting and making this journal a success. In this context, the editorial board of Clinical Neuroradiology would like to thank Professor Sartor and to wish him all the best for his next chapter of life.
